  • Medium-sized bowl
  • Mixing utensils
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Two separate bowls for batter and breading
  • Air fryer basket
  • Olive oil cooking spray
  • Serving plate

Ingredients

Batter:

  • cup Buttermilk
  • 1 Egg
  • ¼ cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Red Hot Chile and Lime Seasoning Blend (e.g., Frank's®)
  • ½ tsp Adobo all-purpose seasoning (e.g., Goya®)

Breading:

  • 2 cups Panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp Adobo all-purpose seasoning (e.g., Goya®)
  • ½ tsp Red Hot Chile and Lime Seasoning Blend (e.g., Frank's®)
  • Olive oil cooking spray
  • 1 tsp Kosher salt (or to taste)

Notes

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, all-purpose flour, RedHot Chile and Lime Seasoning Blend, and adobo all-purpose seasoning. Mix well until the batter is smooth.
  2. In another bowl, combine the panko bread crumbs, adobo all-purpose seasoning, RedHot Chile and Lime Seasoning Blend, and kosher salt. Stir until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing any excess batter to drip off. Then, coat the onion ring in the seasoned bread crumbs, pressing lightly to ensure they adhere well. Repeat this process until all the onion rings are coated.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for a few minutes.
  5. Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the coated onion rings in a single layer in the basket, making sure they do not overlap.
  6. Lightly spray the onion rings with olive oil cooking spray to help them crisp up.
  7. Cook the onion rings in the air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for 8 to 10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Flip them halfway through the cooking process for even browning.
  8. Once cooked, carefully remove the onion rings from the air fryer and transfer them to a serving plate.
  9. Serve the air fryer spicy onion rings hot as an appetizer or a snack. They can be enjoyed on their own or paired with your favorite dipping sauce.
Note: Cooking times may vary depending on the type and model of your air fryer, so keep an eye on the onion rings as they cook to prevent burning. Adjust the cooking time accordingly if needed.
