Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Baking Potatoes, peeled and cut into quarters
  • 3 cloves Garlic, peeled (optional), adjust to taste
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Notes

  1. In a large pot, add the peeled and quartered baking potatoes. If desired, you can also include peeled garlic cloves for extra flavor.
  2. Fill the pot with enough water to cover the potatoes and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook until the potatoes are tender and can be easily pierced with a fork, usually around 15-20 minutes. If using garlic, it should become tender as well.
  3. Once the potatoes (and garlic, if used) are cooked, drain the water from the pot.
  4. In the same pot, add the milk and butter.
  5. Mash the potatoes (and garlic) with a potato masher or fork until they reach your desired consistency. For a creamier texture, you can use a hand mixer.
  6. Season the mashed potatoes with salt and freshly ground black pepper, adjusting to your taste preference.
  7. Give the mashed potatoes a final stir to incorporate all the ingredients evenly.
